I have finally given in and decided to go see Due Date, out of pure curiosity to see why IMDB placed it as number 1 grossing film in the UK this week, rather than personal interest.

I didn’t really know what to expect of this film, apart from the fact that it starred Robert Downy Jr.  and one of the guys from ‘The Hangover’, so naturally I assumed that it must be a funny film, so I gave it a shot.

I wasn’t wrong. The film is highly entertaining and controversial, packed with punchy one liners and lough out loud moments, despite several highly controversial scenes which make Robert Downy’ Jr.’s character look like a real jerk ( eg. punching a child and spitting on a little dog – indeed forcing the audience to ‘leave their comfort zone’ ).

A film about the forced friendship between two very contrasting characters –  a self composed architect who has got it all and a wannabe  actor who has nothing left. Two people that would never, under normal circumstances have time for eachother and would go through life without giving it another thought that things could also be done in a different way.

However, if you expect some witty/clever comedy this should definitely not be on your list of films to watch. I would describe it as a desperate attempt to top the success of ‘The Hangover’ and exaggerate some of Hollywood’s funniest moments, depicted in some of its best comedies, in order to guarantee revenue intake.

It looks like it’s doing just that!
