Black Swan
“It was perfect” …are Portman’s last words in this “exhiliarating masterpiece”. However, I am not sure if I would use those words to describe this film. Visually charging and very theatrical would be my way of describing the BLACK SWAN.
Is this the perfect film? I am not so sure…However, one thing’s for certain: Natalie Portman gives a superb performance in this uniquely obsessive story of a ballerina who is constantly pursuing perfection. A film which easily portrays the fine line between insanity and genius …
To all those obsessive perfectionists out there…you have to see this movie and learn to let go…I know I certainly needed to!
After all….
“the only person standing in your way is yourself…so let yourself go…trust”

I quite enjoyed the film with its twists and turns, and – of course – the dancing, which was quite good and different to a normal version of Swan Lake. Portman was very good as the troubled ingenue, and Cassel did a great job as the ruthless Frenchman (something he’s really good at, se Mesrine I and II). Although the film went a bit over the top with what looks like cliches from other stories – pushy failure mother, sexual obsessions, the former diva, the tall dark stranger – , I thoroughly enjoyed it.
